A nook is, in its most etymological definition, the meeting point between two or more surfaces where lines meet, where the paths cross and create a shared space. But, beyond geometry, a nook can be a refuge.
Let’s imagine, then, a cozy corner in our home, a space to take refuge from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. It is in these corners that we find calm, where we can be ourselves, and it’s then when this corner becomes a refuge, a safe place.
When we stop to observe a corner, what we are really doing is focusing our gaze moved by the interest that something, often unconsciously, has produced in us. By decentralizing our look, we feed our curiosity and the ability to observe and so we begin to discover details that could otherwise go unnoticed. A nook can be a subtle detail, a distant memory that, although minor, has the power to transform our perception of the whole and reveal a world to us. This is an invitation to explore what is outside the main focus, to discover hidden stories and to appreciate the beauty in the unexpected.
